Exploring Barriers in the LGBTQ Community
September 13, 2021The Impact of Positive and Negative Experiences on the LBGTQ Community
$65.00
Have you ever gone to a restaurant and had a positive experience? How about a negative experience? Chances are that you have probably experienced both.
We have positive and negative experiences almost everyday whether we are at a restaurant, doctor’s office, or speaking to a therapist. This can determine whether we return for their services or not.
It is important to remember that many survivors face positive and negative experiences on multiple levels. Intersectionality can impact a survivor in multiple ways. An LGBTQ person of a specific race, culture, religion or disability can face multiple anxieties and/or fears about accessing services. It is important that their concerns can have multiple layers and that it may take even more patience, understanding and awareness to help them feel comfortable accessing services.
